TLEAZ: Representing Tobacco Exporter Interests

The Tobacco Exporters Association of Zimbabwe (TLEAZ) was established in 2019 to represent the interests of tobacco merchant exporters. Formed in response to the significant growth of the tobacco industry, TLEAZ aims to ensure the production of high-quality tobacco that meets international standards.

TLEAZ represents its members’ interests with various stakeholders, including government agencies, growers, and international bodies. Key areas of focus include Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues and Sustainable Tobacco Production (STP).

Membership is open to tobacco exporters exporting over one million kgs annually. Associate membership is available to local contracting companies supplying over 1.5 million kgs of green tobacco to TLEAZ members

TLEAZ is governed by a Council and operates through committees focusing on Agronomy, Finance, and Sustainability. The Association actively participates in government initiatives and collaborates with other industry players.

A key initiative is a Supply Chain Impact Assessment conducted by TwentyFifty, providing a framework for improving supply chain integrity and addressing ESG concerns. This is crucial as international buyers increasingly prioritize ESG criteria in their sourcing decisions.

TLEAZ emphasizes a collaborative approach with all stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability and success of the Zimbabwean tobacco industry.
